Should students be allowed to play computer games at school? I say yes! As a kindergarten teacher I always allow my students to play computer games. While some teachers may say that this time could be used to study or to read a book, I think this time could be used to give students extra practice. In my classroom I allow students to play computer games to reinforce skills that I've taught. I think that computer games can bring excitement to learning. When students play computer games they don't think that they are learning, which makes computer games even more exciting. I love the fact that my 5 year old daughter has learned multiplication facts from playing computer games. Computers and computer games are awesome tools for learning.
Agree. My 7 year old does not enjoy reading books:( However, I can get him on the computer and he will read facts about animals all day long. I am not even sure he has realized that he is "reading".
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you use games with your kindergartners. It is not easy for 5 and 6 year olds to occupy their time independently reading while their teacher is working with their classmates. they just do not have the attention span nor do they usually have the reading skills to keep them busy. However, playing a game on the computer can reinforce previous skills while keeping their attention.
I also think students should be allowed to play computer games at school.
